SEO Tips

  • Try to keep the important pages of your site in or as near to the root directory. Pages that are stored in sub directories would tend to be regarded as less important the further down the hierarchy they are stored.
  • Use one consistent domain name and theme. Multiple domain names or homepage names can confuse a search engine into misinterpreting them as duplicate pages.
  • All the pages of your site must serve good quality, original, useful content. It is not sufficient to duplicate text from other websites.
  • Webpages must not contain material that could be misinterpreted as for adults only. A site that is intended for an adult audience may be omitted from search results.
  • It is important to have site wide interlinking. Normally a navigation bar or sitemap page would do this for you and it allows a web spider to crawl your site.
  • It is important that the content of your website does not contain text that could also be interpreted as hidden text such as using the same font colour as the background colour.
  • The keywords that a person searching for your site are likely to use must be located in the content of the pages on your site.
  • The content of your pages in your site should be updated periodically. Stale old content is likely to fall in rankings over time. Ensure that broken links are removed.
  • Give customers a reason to want to visit and bookmark your site. This can only be done by offering what the potential customer wants. Even a polished impressive site will not fair well if it does not offer products that people are looking for.
